Mercer County Chamber of Commerce Annual Meeting Awards Dinner
March 7th at The Stable at the Mercer Co. Fairgrounds
Jane Coomes Education Award
Mercer County educator felt to best represent the profession and who meets the following criteria:
- Minimum of ten years in the education field.
- Contributes to the development of youth outside the classroom setting
- Outstanding contribution to development of youth in the school setting.
- Resident of Mercer County.
- Works toward the improvement of the school system.
- Currently active in the profession or retired.
Business or Industry of the Year Award
A local business or industry making significant helps to the community and their employees besides making a profit for their group.
Charles H. McGinnis Good Citizen Award
It is given in honor of the late Judge Executive Charles McGinnis. The recipient will be a resident of Mercer County who has demonstrated extraordinary good will and good deeds, not as a job responsibility, but because they care about their cause and wish to promote it. Examples might include: school, civic club, church, or organization volunteers.
Beautification Award
A significant restoration of a business or house including grounds.
Bob Martin Community Spirit Award
Named in honor of Bob Martin, this award goes to someone who in their lifestyle through hands-on leadership over the years promoted the community by helping many groups and people of all walks of life.
Gail Chamber Brown Volunteer of the Year
Named in honor of Gail Chambers Brown this award goes to a Mercer County resident who volunteers their time and effort to improve various organizations and the community.
Leon Mayo Leadership Award
Named in honor of Leon Mayo this award goes to a Mercer County resident who is involved in different aspects of the community and uses their leadership skills and expertise to help advance the community.
