SUMMARY:Reality Store
DESCRIPTION:Reality Store:\n\nWednesday\, April 19\n\n8:15a.m 2:00 p.m.\n\n@ King Middle School Gym\n\n230 Students from KMS & Burgin 8th grade\n\n \n\nNEEDED VOLUNTEERS TO ASSIST:\n\n \n\nWHAT: Reality Store is a hands-on simulation to give young people an opportunity to learn what it's like to be an adult with adult responsibilities. Prior to the reality store the students will be prepared at an orientation. They complete a survey as to what they envision their life at age 25. Some of the questions on the survey was what level of education will they have completed\, what is their occupation\, what would they do for entertainment\, how much money would they save each month and what type of house and car would they have. Based on their grade point average in high school they draw a career from the high\, medium and low boxes. The students are then given an amount of play money equivalent to the average monthly salary in that occupation. The students also select a family situation. Some students will have no children and others may have four or five kids. The organizers are not promoting single parenthood\, we tell the students they are the sole provider for their family. They will then enter the store and begin to purchase a months supply of goods for themselves and their family. The Reality Store will consist of "stores" representing travel & entertainment\, communications\, insurance offices\, gas & utilities\, groceries\, clothing stores\, health & beauty stores\, medical & dental offices\, vehicle licensing offices\, car lots\, banks and government offices. \n\n \n\nVOLUNTEER ROLE: To work in a store and sell goods & services. Guide sheets & materials will be available. In order to offer this program for the students we need a minimum of 50+ volunteers. As you can see I need your assistance.\n\n \n\nTO VOLUNTEER CLICK ON THIS LINK - http://doodle.com/poll/tezifkfq4ks2y47y\n\n \n\n \n\nOR CALL: Mercer County Extension Office 734-4378 or Allison Hazelwood King Middle School Resource Center 733-7060 or Sharon Perkins 748-5282\n\n \n\n \n\n \n\n \n\nDana Anderson\, Mercer County Extension Agent for 4-H Youth Development\n\nMercer County Extension Agent for 4-H Youth Development\n\n1007 Lexington Road\n\nHarrodsburg\, Kentucky 40330\n\nPhone 859.734.4378\n\nFax 859.734.4379\n\nWebpage: ces.ca.uky.edu/mercer\n\n \n\nFollow us on Facebook\n\nMercer County Cooperative Extension\n\nhttps://www.facebook.com/MercerCountyExtension?ref=hl\n\nMercer County 4-H (KY)\n\nhttps://www.facebook.com/MercerCounty4H?ref=hl
