SUMMARY:Christmas Home Tours 2014
DESCRIPTION:For 23 consecutive years\, the Harrodsburg Historical Society has held The Christmas Holiday Homes Tour on the first Saturday of December\, which this year is Saturday\, December 6\, 2014. Every year there are several different historic homes and a historic church. Many residences date before the Civil War\, and all are decorated for Christmas. The Historical Society opens a Tea Room in their headquarters\, located in historic Morgan Row on Chiles Street\, Harrodsburg. A menu of homemade sandwiches\, soups\, beverages\, and desserts is offered. Lunch at the Tea Room is from 11:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. on Friday\, Dec. 5th and Saturday\, Dec. 6th from 11:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. Tickets can be purchased there or at any of the houses. The homes are open 1:00 until 6:00 P.M. Harrodsburg is the oldest permanent English settlement in Kentucky and is central to many vacation sites. Local accommodations include the acclaimed historic Beaumont Inn and Shaker Village. Contact the Harrodsburg Historical Society\, 859-734-5985\, J. Sampson Antiques\, 859-734-7829\, or the Tourist Commission at 1-800-355-9182 for more information.\n\n \n\n \n\nA new element has been added to the Homes Tour this year. We have communities in Mercer County that were once thriving and independent. Salvisa\, north of Harrodsburg\, is one such community. We are featuring the history of this town and there are several homes that are available for viewing from the outside only. The written histories of these early homes will be in addition to the in house tours.
